added somewhere around 50 links to my resources page. also if you didn't notice already, the home page is back to the door and spinner layout; my dead cat page is now at this location, accessible via the home page by clicking on the picture of my cat that i added.
in slow progress at the moment: neopets section, additional BL recs (i'm going to add a "technically not BL" section so i can recommend karaoke iko (plus a couple other things)). i think i have more buttons saved to add to my button wall and maybe some backgrounds for the backgrounds section, i need to check. plus a links page rework that's in progress but im not happy with it at all so that's on the backburner.
i have a lot of new public domain stuff saved but a lot of it needs cropping/small edits bc it's from magazines.
the other day i was reading a volume of the strand from 1893 and well for one thing it had a photo of a turnip that looks kinda like an old woman. but for another thing it had this section for people who got an award from the royal humane society, which primarily gave (gives??) awards to people who save people from drowning, and one of the recipients is bram stoker! author of dracula! before he wrote dracula.

weird to run into that in the wild. not a very interesting story, and actually kind of depressing, but it was interesting to see it at least.
they also included this dog, who i'm not sure was actually awarded a medal but did help save some guys from drowning.

"the collar he is wearing was presented by the brother of the captain who, unfortunately, was drowned; and on the plate are engraved these words: Presented to Prince for his gallant behaviour, October 22nd, 1892, by J. J. W."
if you're interested in that sort of thing, here is the volume i was looking at. there's a lot of racist short stories in it with racist illustrations though so i wouldn't recommend it if that sort of thing is upsetting to look at for you. one of the reasons i liked running publicdomaintreasures is i want to give people the opportunity to enjoy things like photos of heroic victorian dogs and funny ads and such without having to sift through all the racial caricatures. in website form its a little different though. for an archive for someone to peruse it seems pointless to include this sort of little bit that isn't useful in any capacity. its a very different sort of thing from a gimmick blog on cohost. idk. i miss having people i could show this stuff to in a casual "look at this thing i found!" way who enjoyed seeing it and going "haha, neat!". websites and blogs arent set up for that type of interaction at all.
anyways here's that turnip i promised.
