Our Flag Means Pride

♡ Edward Teach's Blackbeard flag available on stickers and digital downloads!! ♡

I wanted to contribute to the fandom with an alternative to Historical Blackbeard's flag. I worked really hard with screenshots to get the design just right! Edward "Our Flag Means Death" Teach is babygirl. His flag is dramatic and cool, his skeleton has cheekbones for days and cute little angry eyes. I love him. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing Historical Blackbeard's flag used because hey! He was gross! Yuck! Historical Blackbeard turned over slaves from a captured ship to be sold at auction [1], and forced his wives to prostitute themselves out to his crew [2], just to name two of his claims to infamy. Not bloody optimal.

So, with that in mind, I opened up my little vector graphics editing software, placed a screenshot of Edward Teach's "Heartbreak Flag", as I call it, from the end of season 1 episode 10, and I got to work overlaying a nice clean design overtop.

My hope is that this design replaces the flag the fandom uses alongside Edward Our Flag Means Death Teach instead of the one attached to Historical Pirate Blackbeard. Slap a sticker on your laptop, or car like I've done! I'm out there sailing my queer little ship on the concrete pavement. Put that transparent skeleton file in a trans pride color palette galaxy and use it as your phone background. Put it in your SMAU graphics! Just a few examples. So long as you don't resell the design in any form, and also provide credit using my name + one of my websites or social media handles provided in "you-Read-Me-fine-things-well.txt" in the ZIP folder download.

Our Flag Means Pride stickers

A 4" x 2 2/3" full color print glossy finish kiss cut sticker of Edward Teach's Blackbeard flag from Our Flag Means Death, re-created by me, Alexis Bee, available in two versions:

  1. solid black, "Blackbeard's flag"
  2. a rainbow Pride background

This is a limited small batch of six (6) so only one of each sticker per person for now, please. I will be making more in the future so stay tuned!

I am only mailing within the United States at this time, but I also have digital versions available if you would like to have them printed for yourself

rainbow seed bead pendant in my shop! it looks like a tall cheese grater!!

This is a rainbow 3D rectangular column pendant that comes with a length of ball and chain necklace. The pendant is made from seed beads and monofilament thread in the shape of a rectangular column. The pendant transitions in a "dithering" pattern from top to bottom: translucent red, orange, yellow, opaque green, blue, purple, and translucent pink.

You can specify a different length of ball chain necklace, otherwise I will include 18" and a closure.

A pair of dangle earrings in the shape of eyes made from seed beads, thread, and jump rings. There are glass evil eye beads in the middle of this design, surrounded by a rainbow of seed beads and black glass bead details.

Two options available to choose from:

A pair of dangle earrings in the shape of eyes made from seed beads, thread, and jump rings. There are frosted semi-translucent shimmering opalescent beads in the middle of this design, surrounded by dark rainbow seed beads and neon glass bead details. The ear wires and jump rings match the dark rainbow seed beads.

I followed this tutorial by Sonysree Creations with some slight modding.

A pair of Stranger Things themed dangle earrings in the shape of Eddie Munson's electric guitar, and Steve Harrington's bat with nails. The plastic charms are made from recycled heat-shrunk polystyrene, alcohol ink, acrylic paint markers, and sealed with clear dimensional gloss.

I don't go here but I'm told this was a popular ship from Stranger Things! They seem like cool dudes.

A necklace with pendant in the shape of a rainbow toadstool mushroom made from seed beads, thread, and silver wire. The mushroom cap is made by stringing beads onto thread into a dome shape. The stem is made by placing beads onto silver wire coiled into a spiral.

☙ mushrooms are here! ✤

Specifically, mushrooms made from seed beads strung onto thread and wire. They're earrings!

A pair of dangle earrings in the shape of spotted toadstool mushrooms made from seed beads, thread, and silver wire. The mushroom caps are made by stringing beads onto thread into a dome shape. The stems are made by placing beads onto silver wire coiled into spirals.

Five colors available to choose from:

  1. 1. Red with pearly white spots and stem
  2. 2. Green with pearly white spots and stem
  3. 3. Blue with pearly white spots and stem
  4. 4. Black with white spots and white + black stem
  5. 5. Rainbow with purple + white stem

I followed this tutorial to make the caps, modifying it by stopping just under halfway through and finishing by weaving back up towards the center. The caps are not attached to the stems with glue or anything and can rotate freely.

* PLEASE NOTE I recommend tying long hair up when wearing these earrings to avoid it getting caught in the stem spirals. I have worn my pair out and about (with my long hair up) and they have not caused me any trouble, just wanting to be safe! *

I've spent a few days slightly shifting the layout of my patterns page. I removed the buttons and made them into title links above each pattern. Also, all variations now included in a stunning flexbox display! I think it looks pretty darn good. Take a little scroll and judge for yourself.

I'm still working on having download links (maybe those will be buttons?) for each pattern. As it is, you can do the standard right click / long press and save manually.

Guess what! This day was founded by a multinational multi-billion dollar credit card company. Fantastic! That makes sense.

Anyways, we live in a society and I am participating in it. I'm (finally) doing fused bead art!

Starting things off easy with these 14 pairs of cute colorful pixel smiley and frowny faces.

If I've done any fused bead projects before, it would have been literal decades ago in summer camp. The process of making these simple designs gave me some much-needed practice. It seems easy enough until you set the iron not hot enough so that nothing sticks together and you mess-up your first attempt by knocking some beads loose, then you go too hot and squish everything completely flat, then you lift up the parchment paper unevenly and get crease lines on your beads, then you burn your fingies picking-up a freshly ironed piece with no protection, then you run out of space and heavy items to cool them down flat ... needless to say, there's a lot of variables. Thankfully, good ol YouTube has plenty of really enthusiastic fused bead artists who are more than happy to share tips & tricks of the trade.

You better believe I'm already working on another project and that I am farming my portfolio of pixel art.

I got sick in the middle of the month and had to spend time recovering, so I worked double time once I felt better to make sure I finished-up my planned Halloween projects. I was really excited for them! I was really upset when I thought I might have to cancel altogether. But here they all are! I originally wanted to make a small batch of the pentagram earrings but I ran out of both time and steam so I settled on one for now. I have plenty of supplies to make more so if there's interest? I'm ready.

I have split my graphics page into two: miscellaneous, and patterns. With the weekly addition of new patterns on Freebie Friday, things were getting a little too crowded!
