I’ve been doing some housekeeping behind the scenes on the website. My day job is UX/UI design, so every once in a while I end up applying some of that thinking to the comic site.

TrueNuff is 25 years old today. That feels fake to type.
TrueNuff started in 2001 as a dumb webcomic about friends, beer, bad decisions, and whatever was annoying us that week. We just kept making it, stopped making it, started again, changed styles, broke things, fixed them, and somehow… it’s still here.
The internet changed.
Webcomics changed.
We changed (fatter, balder).
TrueNuff just kept being a comic about nothing (also beer).
Through all of it, the goal stayed the same: Make something funny.
If you’ve been reading since the early days, thanks for somehow still being here. If you’re newer, welcome. You have a backlog to ignore explore.
Since it’s Saturday, today’s Shabby Road comic is an extra off-schedule drop. There’ll still be a brand new comic Monday.
New Wallpapers
The wallpaper section got a rebuild. The old Patreon-exclusive Gauntlet wallpaper from 10 years ago (FUCK!) is now free. Three new wallpapers (Shabby Road, Super Bitchio, Spring) are at Patreon.
Another year another batch of games (see previous installments here: 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020.) now with GIFs!
Read on for tales of my heroics…
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (Switch) + DLC
Me and the kids got Norovirus early last year so we played a lot of this. Simple gameplay but pretty fun. It was neat seeing the Infinity Gauntlet story with X-Men in the mix. Great “couch co-op while half dead” game.
Cat Quest (Switch)
Surpurrrrisingly good little action RPG. Simple, yet well done. Great puns. Planning to try co-op with the kids for Cat Quest II & III.
Zelda II (NES)
Been trying to beat this for DECADES. Played on Nintendo Switch Online with save states, rewind, & the “SP” version (Level 8 Link) and it was STILL hard. Cool seeing town names that reappear in later Zeldas. Hard as balls but the soundtrack has BANGERS.
Death Road to Canada (Switch)
Got back into this and played with my son and he made it to Canada. Oregon Trail with zombies squishy controls but quirky, random and fun. They keep adding free content to the game after nearly 10 years - it’s like it won’t die.
This list is smaller than the previous years because I started making TrueNuff comics again - go read those.
I’ve been tweaking the website for the last few weeks (hopefully it looks & works better) but the real news: I’m committing to a rough update schedule. Two comics a week, Monday and Thursdays. As always if you don’t want to check the site manually, join the mailing list and you’ll get new comics delivered to your email.
Christmas!
A five-part Christmas story called Christmas Grifts kicked off today! The Patreon peeps can always read the next comic early. If you’re in the mood check out our past #christmas stuff from the archives:
