London Victoria Station Historic Tiled Maps
These hand-painted ceramic line maps were made in 1899 for the London Brighton & South Coast Railway as part of an ambitious extension for the station and adjacent hotel, led by the railway's chief engineer Sir Charles Langbridge Morgan. One map shows the whole network and the other the suburban lines. Some of the branch lines and stations no longer exist. In the post-war era the images were damaged but in 2024 they were restored.
Grace Wyndham Goldie, 1900 - 1986, BBC executive and pioneer of political coverage on television, lived in Flat 86 from 1935.

The adjacent street light is the last remaining sewer gas destructor lamp in the City of Westminster. Installed in association with Sir Joseph Bazalgette's revolutionary Victoria Embankment sewer, which opened in 1870, this cast iron ornamental lamp standard with original lantern continues to burn off residual biogas.
