Went to Minnesota project to see a friends work and happened upon this durational, pinhole exhibition https://minnesotastreetproject.org/miljohn-ruperto-ultimate-days I didn’t see any prohibition against photography so I did a low light selfie. After your eyes adjust, the piece is amazing.

CADRE 40 San José Museum of Art | April 10-11th, 2026 The Department of Art and Art History at San José State University will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the CADRE (Computers in Art, Design, Research, and Education)program with a public symposium at the San José Museum of Art on April 10–11, 2026. Held in conjunction with the opening weekend of Motherboards, the event brings together artists, designers, scholars, alumni, and students to reflect on four decades of digital media art and its evolving cultural impact.
Founded in 1985, CADRE has been a foundational force in shaping media art education—bridging experimental practice, emerging technologies, and critical inquiry. The anniversary symposium traces a lineage from early digital experimentation to today’s conditions of platformization, automation, and networked labor. Through panel discussions, keynote conversations, performance and the CADRE Open house, participates will explore themes of community, authorship, care, infrastructure, preservation. Open to the public, CADRE 40 positions the museum as a space for critical dialogue – connecting past, present, and future practices of digital media art.
The event will be held over two days at the San Jose Museum of Art and on the Campus at SJSU. For details on all events and programming, see the schedule below.

Okay I am not new to the Huizinga concept and was mildly offended when I read about the Magic Circle Jerk of Zimmerman, but I have cum around as it were:
Huizinga’s concept of the magic circle describes a bounded space set apart from ordinary life, a voluntary, temporary world governed by its own rules, sustained by shared belief and mutual participation. As compared to the sexual act implied by the phrase “circle jerk,” the comparison would hinge not on titillation but on structure, consent, and reciprocity.
Both involve a consciously formed circle, even metaphorically. Participants gather, aware that they are entering a space distinct from everyday norms. The boundaries are social rather than physical: what occurs inside is framed differently from what occurs outside. In Huizinga’s terms, play is “not ordinary life”; similarly, the sexual gathering in question operates within a mutually understood suspension of conventional public behavior. It is ritualized, voluntary, and time-bound.
Second, both depend on collective maintenance. The magic circle does not exist unless players uphold it, by following rules, sustaining the fiction, and recognizing one another as co-players. In the sexual parallel, the experience is likewise co-created. Each participant’s engagement reinforces the shared atmosphere. There is no external product; the value lies in the mutual acknowledgment and synchronization among those present.
Third, both are autotelic. Huizinga emphasizes that play is undertaken for its own sake. It produces meaning internally rather than instrumentally. The same can be said of the consensual sexual gathering in question: its purpose is not productivity or external validation, but shared enjoyment and affirmation within the bounded event itself.
Finally, both phenomena illustrate how powerful temporary worlds can be. Within the circle, identities may shift, hierarchies may soften, and ordinary constraints may loosen. Yet the boundary is understood. When the circle dissolves, participants return to everyday life, carrying with them the memory of the experience but not confusing it with the outside world.
