This is my submission for this month’s IndieWeb Carnival, hosted by Fractal Kitty with the theme of “second person birds” Aren’t they just so beautiful? Up there, high in the sky. All those gorgeous birds flying high overhead. Each one unique and colorful in their own way.

[@starbreaker](/users/starbreaker) hosted September's [IndieWeb Carnival:](https://indieweb.org/IndieWeb_Carnival) - [Power Underneath Despair - In your darkest hour, what saved you? What helped you find the strength to carry on?](https://starbreaker.org/blog/personal/power-underneath-despair/index.html) - [Last Call](https://starbreaker.org/blog/misc/power-underneath-despair-last-call/index.html) - His Own Entry: [The Power of Satan Compels Me](https://starbreaker.org/blog/personal/power-satan-compels-me/index.html) I feel like starbreaker fugging mastered using anger as a life-force and I'm jelly as hell. For the most part at least, as I also know that anger / hate / defiance isn't all sunshine and butterflies, despite being more likely to accomplish what you want. --- [@the-syreth-clan](/users/the-syreth-clan) also participated with their entry: - [A Love Letter for Martina Syreth](https://the-syreth-clan.neocities.org/syreth/library/loveletter_martina) The power another can have on us, our well-being, our will to live is, life-changing. A ride or die partner can mean so much. I didn't touch on relationship(s) particularly strongly in my own as I really wanted to encourage as much autonomy in a struggler's headspace / situation as possible. But powerful for sure. --- [@andreixyz](/users/andreixyz) as well: - [Power Underneath Despair](https://andrei.xyz/post/indieweb-carnival-power-underneath-despair/) Man, I'm very close to my parents, so I know anything negative is going to hit me like a train, but in relation to dogs. What a powerful force of good they can be! Dogs, they live on such a simpler, more straightforward plain of existence. Incredibly good at grounding us, at telling us reminding us: "Yo. Bich. Water, now! Food, now! Walk, now! Love, now!" Just their very being can get us back to moving (on), doing, living. --- And I think I'm the last from this forum to contribute: - [Salvations - ♫ Maybe you're the same as me ♫](https://foreverliketh.is/blog/salva

This is my first time participating in a IndieWeb Carnival. I had seen this name floating around before, but I have never participated. After reading both Manuel Moreale’s and Jan-Luka’s posts, I got interested, especially due to the topic: multilingualism in a global web. This month’s edition is hosted by ZinRicky.
The Web is multilingual, even if I'm not, so it's on me to adapt.

My first IndieWeb Carnival entry—the theme is love letters, and I couldn't pick just one thing. A letter to the infrastructure that holds my corner of the internet together, to the strangers who maintain the open-source tools I depend on every day, and to the IndieWeb friends I've met over the past few months. And finally, to curiosity: the embarrassing willingness to fall in love with a static-site generator or a transit system or a protocol nobody's heard of, which I've come to believe is what kept me alive.

This is my very first entry for the IndieWeb Carnival, this month hosted by Pablo and the topic is Adventure. I’m astonished I never found time before. Shame on me! I was quite an amoeba until a few years ago. That’s it. If I were on my own, making my own choices day by day, I’d probably never step out of my comfort zone. Maybe I’m a coward, but honestly I think I was grown in laziness and routine. Dangerous life at its finest.
Contemplating the word
My entry in the February 2026 IndieWeb Carnival all about Intersecting Interests.
Weird Web October - Transparency When we decide you want to learn something new it can feel incredibly daunting. Regardless of starting point or motivation, we are embarking on a journey into the unknown. Questions are everywhere; What should I learn? Where do I start? How should I learn? How do I measure progress? What if I give up? Back in 2019, I gave a talk at the London Gophers meet-up. The talk was titled: Beyond the Tour. I can remember feeling like a fraud for giving the talk. I was well in to a career working with technology and here I was, using up a precious speaking slot, talking as if I was a complete beginner. I hadn’t achieved anything groundbreaking with Go. I had no new framework or product to promote. This was a talk about learning, an approach to learning that embraced the fact that I had other interests outside the world of Go. At the heart of my journey to learn Go, a series of intersecting interests.

Webmentions and POSSEing are cool. You just don’t need to re-create social media with them.
Today, I would like to invite you to join me on a calming adventure through winding streets, quiet little towns and magical forests. Make yourself a drink, get comfortable and relax. Take a sip. Take your time. I’d like to take you to a place at the back of my mind.

The challenges of maintaining a multilingual blog and why I'm giving up (for now)

What's your current adventure
Here’s my entry for this month’s IndieWeb carnival. The topic proposed by Zachary Kai is intersecting interests. When I saw the topic, I immediately thought of my reading interests. Since my retirement, I suspect that I spend more time reading than I spend doing anything else, though I suppose if one bundles washing the clothes, washing the dishes, and paying the bills together under the heading of household management, I might spend more time there. But household management isn’t all that interesting. So when I think about intersecting interests, I think about the reading. And it’s not just the interests as reflected in my mind. It’s also the interests reflected in the books and essays that I’m reading.
Training for my half-marathon, I was doing a long run. My training plan called for a 20 km run that day, but I decided to push myself a bit. I mean, why not just do the entire 21K if I’m so close. Around km 18, I was in the middle of 2 ponds, slowly progressing. This old lady waved at me and said something. I took my headphones out. “Do you like bird-watching?” “Not really!” “I just wanted to show you these rare birds, this one over here is a Blue Heron. And that one over there, is another rare one”. “Oh wow, I did not know that!” “Yes, they only show up for like 2–3 weeks in this area, I’m sorry for stopping you, but I just wanted to share this”
A fellow carnivalist and host of this month’s IndieWeb Carnival asked me a few questions about hosting the carnival.
This month’s IndieWeb Carnival is all about adventures and oh boy do I love a good one.

While browsing the web I often came across the term “indieweb”. I still don’t fully understand it, but I surely love its philosophy as well as the small web, Web 1.0, etc. That’s why I first created this blog on Bearblog. The Tech More recently I learned about microformats2 and how they could transform static websites like mine into precious gold mines. They can provide simple commenting systems with Fediverse integration, show the likes of a webpage, or just the mentions. About the latter, webmentions by Aaron are the ones that struck my attention first.
I have contributed to other people's creative projects before. Back then, I would join art collabs within walled gardens (especially Instagram and Discord) a...
