docs.thottingal.in is my personal knowledge space I try to document and share everything I know about this world in form of an online GitBook hosted on GitHub. What is a digital garden? In basic terms, it is a different format for written content on the web. It’s about moving away from blog posts ordered by dates and categories, into more of an interlinked web of notes. Blog posts are articles at a point in time, while here it is living document. Digital gardens are also known as Zettelkasten or Second Brain.

Text blocks are now in beta. Type directly onto your Muse boards with Notion-style blocks that can be chained together and freely reordered. Bringing together the freeform spatial model of Muse with long-form text support poses many design challenges.

You read a book, you think you’ve understood it. Then you try to explain the content to your friend and you find out you don’t remember much. Why?

I’m excited to announce that I’m joining Arcol to work on the future of building design software! Arcol’s ambitions are at the intersection of a variety of my interests: innovative software for professional creative work, ambitious and challenging technical problems, and architecture. The cross-pollination of architecture and computing fascinates me, starting with Christopher Alexander’s concept of pattern languages and the influence that it’s had on software engineering, and then in reverse with architects like Frank Gehry leveraging innovations in software to enable new architectural design. I’m looking forward to being a part of that shared history by pushing these two industries forward together at Arcol.
This is still an evolving draft. If you have any feedback or suggestion, welcome to comment on Substack, or send me a message via twitter, facebook or email…
