Art Gallery

Here is a small gallery of some of my art! I’m planning on expanding and cleaning this up at some point, but I’m not letting myself be bogged down by perfection any longer!

(Also - please refrain from reposting these arts)

Trans-fem Video Artists That Changed Me in 2024

This year, 2024, has been an excellent year for trans fem video artists. I’m sure other years are also great, but to me, this year is special. I have had the pleasure of seeing three incredible video projects spearheaded by transfem artists that have changed me.

I Saw the TV Glow

I Saw the TV Glow is a horror movie that follows Owen, a teenager who falls in love with the tv show The Pink Opaque. He sneaks off to watch it on Saturday nights with his friend, an older teen named Maddie. The Pink Opaque is heavy with refferences to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The atmosphere of the movie is claustrophobic, the weight of nostalgia is oppressive, and the story is unflinching. The run time of the movie is only an hour and forty minutes, but the slow, deliberate pacing, and the entrancing music make it feel much longer. My friends and I went to see it in theaters, and when we left I felt like I had just walked across the bottom of the ocean and found myself wet and cold on a rocky beach at sunrise.

Dragonage Veilgaurd, Coming Soon

I really like Dragon Age. In 2020, I built a pc for the express purpose of playing Dragon Age Inquisition, a game I had fond pre-plague memories of. Later I played through (most of) Origins (twice), enthralled, and last month I finally played through Dragon Age 2. I have also, eagerly awaited news of the fourth installment. I mourned a little during that brief window where it looked like it was going to turn into a multiplayer afair. In 2022, when they announced the game as dread wolf, I ignored it, because it seemed like the game was still a long ways off, and started sortof assuming it wasn’t actually going to happen.

The Garden of Proserpine
The Garden of Proserpine

By Algernon Charles Swinburne

Here, where the world is quiet;
Here, where all trouble seems
Dead winds' and spent waves' riot
In doubtful dreams of dreams;
I watch the green field growing
For reaping folk and sowing,
For harvest-time and mowing,
A sleepy world of streams.

I am tired of tears and laughter,
And men that laugh and weep;
Of what may come hereafter
For men that sow to reap:
I am weary of days and hours,
Blown buds of barren flowers,
Desires and dreams and powers
And everything but sleep.

In 2020, I, like everyone else was sad. In order to make myself feel better about it, I did what anyone would do:
I started collected Frozen II themed food items and sticking them on my wall. These are most of the ones I gathered, so enjoy!
Do you have a Frozen II themed food not pictured here? Link it in the guestbook!

The King of Elfland's Daughter
The King of Elfland's Daughter

Note: This page is currently a work in progress, but I'm trying to be less precious about getting everything perfect. Updates soon to come!

The King of Elfland’s Daughter is a book by Lord Dunsany, published in 1924. (For context, the Hobbit was published in 1937) The story follows Alveric, son of the Lord of Erl, Lirazel, the princess of Elfland, and their eventual son, Orion. The entire story is beautiful, and mesmerizing. It was quite influential in the conception of the fantasy genre, and if you read it you’ll definitely start seeing those links!

Site Refactor
Hello Posting

I refactored my entire website to allow me easily write and add blog posts, but now that I’m here, I realize I have no idea how to actually write a blog post. So, in the interest of getting over the demon of perfectionism that sits on my shoulder any time I want to write something, or share an opinion, I’ll start with a post about the big site refactor I’m doing.

Guestbook

This guest book is made using a very slightly modified version of Virtual Observer's script. I also used Frills's instructions on adding comment moderation!

Eventually I'll provide a download of the modifications I made to the css file, because I think the way I set up the theme could be helpful to anyone who wants a quick and easy way to get the colorscheme to match their site!
