Levi’s gran fondo, a famous NorCal bike race told a local Portland transgender racer she was banned 12hr before the start. But she applied, was approved, and registered months and weeks earlier. Imagine being told the night before after driving 10hrs to CA.
I watched a video interview with the Chicago Pope for the first time and like everyone says it is SO bizarre to hear him speak while in the full outfit with an American accent and not sound exactly like Father Guido Sarducci
For my daughter’s birthday, I know she misses a squatty potty she left at our house. Now she’s in her own townhouse at college, so I built her the most bougie version imaginable. Solid walnut, 45° miters, hidden domino joinery, and grain-matched waterfall edges. Just need to sand and finish now.
I wrote up the whole story of how I was blocked from donating to the SPLC by my financial institution, thanks to Trump’s attempts to take down any group that monitors and reports on racist hate groups.
An extended family member is a bipolar & alcoholic, so old stories about werewolves that turn into monsters at night and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde make a hell of a lot more sense as allegories now that I’ve lived through this experience.
Obviously this is a fun hobby I turned into a project so I’ll just keep doing it casually as a free resource for the future, and keep things regularly updated.
Someday I’ll probably get around to hitting all the MLB parks and WNBA arenas too and repeating this.
I’ll share the obvious of what I knew going into this project: it’s super niche and has a limited appeal. The market confirmed it when I only sold about 100 copies. So now it can find more people online casually searching for information.
I can fix any typo in seconds, I can make up to date changes based on feedback, I never wanted to fossilize text in amber. Maybe someday there will be a “hit this button to get a print copy” if you really want one but I need this to be web-native first.
Going online means I can make ~working hyperlinks~ so I’ll go back to the text and link out to every restaurant and attraction to make it easier for anyone to make plans in the future.
Maintaining a website is a thousand times easier than ebook software and publisher upload portals, so I plan to hit the new Denver and Boston games soon and revisit Chicago to see their new venue. I’m in LA this weekend for a game and will update the chapter after.
Two and a half years ago when I started writing a book reviewing every NWSL stadium, I hoped to put it all online for free someday. Today is that day. You can read it now here:
So I ping the pal and tell him I loved the work, it reminded me so much of a famous photographer I follow and he said the shot was actually from a class taught by that famous photographer.
